Maes y Dderwen in Wrexham, Wales, was one of three interior design schemes developed for Tir Tai Limited. This scheme involved redeveloping two existing victorian buildings along with a new build entrance and accommodation. The extra care scheme contained individual resident flats and shared communal spaces. We developed designs for the show flat and the communal areas, which included a light and colourful restaurant, a retro social club, a multi-purpose room, the entrance foyer and corridors. Our concepts for the designs had historical, cultural and local influences while maintaining principles from dementia friendly design. The Architects had created a double height space, open to the entrance foyer and restaurant, for which we designed decorative hanging panels to help the acoustics.
