BPA have a wealth of experience over multiple sectors from over-cladding to healthcare developments to private residential projects, completed across Scotland, England and Wales. We provide a range of services including project management, conservation work, sustainability, planning, building warrant, urban design and interior design.

We have a wide experience in the design of both new build and refurbishment healthcare projects and are specialists in effective design for dementia, stemming from a passion for inclusive design. We put the research into practice and have also applied our knowledge working as interior architects on a variety of extra care projects.

BPA have completed over 30 over-cladding and window replacement projects for Colleges and Universities, residential tower blocks and many more sketch designs and feasibility studies. The objective is to provide older buildings with the appearance and performance of new ones, with work carried out while the buildings remain occupied and fully operational. In more recent years we have also designed cladding for a number of residential tower blocks. In some cases these have been emergency replacements of systems which were failing or did not comply with fire regulations. In others, design involved research of historic records to develop proposals which satisfied planning requirements to replicate the original design intentions. Whatever the requirement for over-cladding we always take a thorough approach to detailing making each design highly specific to the original building. We have always specified non-combustible systems with proper fire breaks and work with specialised and experienced installers to ensure the materials and installation follow the most up to date research and guidance on fire spread prevention.

The Practice are members of both the Green Register and Passive House Trust. Current projects include a development of Passive Houses and Flats and an extension and refurbishment to an existing house to passive house standards.
